Mug | Hope Cove Sunset

Handmade mug thrown on the potters wheel from speckled white stoneware clay, the sunset design is hand painted with lead free non-toxic underglaze and fired into the clay at 1000C. The interior and exterior around the design is then dipped in satin white glaze and fired again at 1240C. The bottom is stencilled with a little clover motif. The painted design is left unglazed while the tactile satin glaze is easy to clean and silky smooth to hold. Dishwasher safe. 

Each piece is thrown, turned, painted and glazed by hand. This is a slow, artisanal process, and pieces include small imperfections and irregularities, such as brush marks, traces of tools, or glaze drips.
